    Post Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving was nice, I got to spend time with my family who I don't see enough, and I spent a good amount of time driving on wet East Texas back roads listening to Shriekback and Siouxie and the Banshees, it was just like old times.

Also, the cat must have spent allll dayyyy peeing on my zebra rug, it was pretty rank in here when I got home.

Your result for The Attachment Style Test...

    The Unicorn

5% Anxiety Over Abandonment and 7% Avoidance Of Intimacy

You're a rare beast: A person nearly completely secure with yourself and with others. You're just as comfortable in long term relationships as you are single. You have a lot to offer anyone you choose to love, and you're not afraid to give or to recieve.

Either that, or you're a liar. Consider taking the test again--and tell the truth this time!

Fictional character with whom you might identify: Death (Sandman), Aslan (The Chronicles of Narnia)

I’m leaving work, I’m going to try and get out of the city, downtown is like a Bloomingdale’s clearance sale only with less fighting and more biting. I don’t know what else to do and I’m so fucked some dead guy in a taco bell uniform ripped through receiving followed by some slow-ass bums. Everyone is panicing and dying or not dying and I wish I had a baseball bat or a machete or something I don’t even have a leather jacket and this is fucked fucked fucked.

    question
So I'm toying with the idea of reinstating my "NO PITY" filter, wherein I post depressing things and rather than the usual frowny faces and condolences and hugs, I ask for stuff like "Yeah the world is ass, deal" and "Suck it up, you lady", and crap like that. Interested? Let me know. This is most definitely an opt in kinda thing.

No Salon tonight, unless you want to expose yourself to a particularly virulent strain of cold that really really sucks.

    (Hint: You don't want it.)

    Love you, miss you, etc.

    1) What's the best part of living "downtown"?

Everything is here. There are bars, restaurants, clubs, head shops, tattoo parlors, clothing stores, everything within walking distance. It’s so unlike the urban areas in the rest of Dallas that it seems to be a city unto itself. Also, the kick-ass view from the roof.

    2) What's the worst part of living "downtown"?

The lack of trees, forest and wildlife on four legs. It’s a trade-off, I know, and one I’m happy to make at this point in my life.

    3) Do you consider yourself an artist? If so, in what way?

Yes and no. Yes in that there is a definite creative element that goes into writing software and designing stuff, and no in that I prefer to think of it as a kind of magic or wizardry. After all, coding something is a lot like intoning the correct magical formula, and etching a circuit board and populating it with components is just like making a magical talisman.

    4) What was the worst job you ever had?

Asbestos removal when I was a teenager. It was hot, sweaty, long work, and my respirator kept crapping out. I highly recommend shitty jobs as a character building exercise, and I also think it’s important to just once be able to tell your boss that he’s a fucking piece of shit before quitting with no notice.

    5) When did you meet your partner and how long did it take you to "win her over"?

Las Vegas, 1999. We “met” on matchmaker.com, I hung out once at her job, then I went home for the holidays. We talked a few times via telephone and email and made plans to hang out once I got back to Vegas. We went on a date (to see Magnolia), kept missing the movie by like 5 minutes, went to Denny’s and drank coffee and ate French fries and talked, went back to my place, hashed out our expectations from a relationship, watched Blackadder and made out, she spent the night. The next morning I had to go have lunch with my uncle, so I left her a key, came back and she had cleaned my apartment and brought me a 12 pack of Mt. Dew (and was on my bed reading “The A-Z Encyclopedia of Serial Killers). She’s been here ever since, and I’m the luckiest dude in seven galaxies.

Doing a google search for "pokemon misty" (I was looking for a picture of misty with jigglypuff marker on her face) with safesearch turned off is probably not the best thing you could do at work.

    As Promised:
Pictures of Bill Gates from an '80s issue of Tiger Beat, offered without comment.

EDIT: According to Snopes, these are not photos for Tiger Beat, but are instead MS publicity shots for the release of Windows 1.0. Honestly I don't which is more disturbing.

    LOST
That was pretty much the weakest lead-in to a season finale that I could imagine. I hope the two hour finale makes up for it.
